The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has welcomed the decision to freeze the official bank interest rate at 5.75% and warned the MPC to resist further increases in the near future. It will give retailers and consumers breathing space as disposable income growth is at a record low and savings levels have also declined.

In the past year over 3 million integrated digital TVs were sold, up from 1 million the previous year, according to research from GfK. However, over 4 million analogue TVs were also sold in the last 52 weeks, suggesting that there is still a lot of work to do to convert all 25 million UK households.

Glen Dimplex UK, the UK's space and water heating market leader has changed its name back to Dimplex UK Limited. Dimplex's new identity will end confusion with its parent company, the Glen Dimplex Group.

Electrolux, is sponsoring the Best Environmentally Sustainable Project of the Year at the prestigious LEAF Awards, the Leading European Architects Forum, which will be presented at a gala dinner in London on 29 November 2007.

Specialist insurance provider Podsure, has launched a range of dedicated insurance policies for portable audio players, such as iPods and MP3 players, giving greater earning potential to independent retailers via ongoing monthly commissions for each policy sold.
