BDC announces partnership with Fratelli Onofri

BDC has entered into a distribution partnership with Fratelli Onofri, the specialist Italian range cooker and built-in appliance manufacturer. Fratelli Onofri is known for kitchen appliances that combine technical innovation with traditional Italian style and elegance.

BDC will distribute the company’s range cookers, hobs and hoods to the independent electrical retail sector and specialist kitchen installers.

Commenting on the agreement Fratelli Onofri managing director Mark Bates said, “As Fratelli Onofri is a new name to the UK market we are delighted to have BDC as our distributor and firmly believe that its service levels and understanding of the UK electrical distribution market will prove to be a success not only for them and ourselves but will also bring their customers exciting new sales opportunities.”

BDC has also launched a new, quarterly 32-page product guide, BDC Buyers Guide, which contains details of all core appliances, accessories, lighting, heating, ventilation and cable product stocked by the electrical distributor.

The Guide is unpriced so the independent can let their customers browse through it without revealing their own buying price. A separate price list is available both in printed format and via the BDC website.

In brief

The UK radio industry has announced its commitment to work with receiver manufacturers to develop an integrated station list that will enable listeners to select stations by name whether they are on FM or digital, and tune seamlessly between FM and digital frequencies. Digital Radio UK is working with key manufacturers and technology suppliers, including Sony and Roberts. The development will ensure that local commercial and community stations which stay on FM remain as accessible to listeners as those stations that have migrated to digital only.

Careers advisors increasingly favour retail as they lose confidence in finance careers, new research by Skillsmart Retail has revealed. The survey of career advisors showed a marked improvement in perceptions of the retail industry and a trend against banking and finance. These changes are attributed to the combined effect of the economic downturn and retailers’ efforts to make careers in the sector more appealing.

Analogue TV signals will be switched off for more than two million households this year, allowing hundreds of thousands of homes to receive Freeview channels for the first time. In total, 14 switchovers will see digital signals extended across the West TV region, parts of Wales, the north of Scotland and the Channel Islands.
