Burley took over the Magiglo brand last year when it went into liquidation and has acted quickly in adding an electric model to the existing gas range. The Insight is available with a choice of trims, frets and fascias and is pictured here in gunmetal steel. Burley has new models under its own name too including the Luffenham 532-R, a compact inset fire for hearth or hole-in-the-wall and the Barleythorpe 560-R, freestanding or inset.

Oil-filled radiators is one of the best performing categories within portable heating, and eco-friendliness is the aim with this Bionaire model. At 2500W, it features an eco mode which saves energy. The unit operates on a high setting for 20 minutes and then switches to low for a further 20, alternating between the two while the unit is switched on.

As to be expected with Smeg, design is key for this flueless natural gas fire but so too function – using the latest in gas fire technology, combustion gases pass through a catalytic converter, so there is no need for a chimney or flue.
