Perhaps the biggest complement to retra for its action and advice packed conference is the fact that next year's event is almost sold out already. Obviously the conference's delegates and speakers were so pleased with its outcome that they are asking for more.
A number of factors contributed to this success (and I am sure that Bryan's Lovewell's team has analysed them in fine detail), but there is no doubt that the organisers hit the proverbial nail on the head by making both the event's format and its content so closely allied to the operators' needs in these difficult times.
The speakers at the retra conference indicated numerous market opportunities arising from the latest technological developments, digital switchover, custom installation and, more recently, also from rental. Some gave very simple but practical advice which can be implemented almost immediately without the support of large budgets but employing ingenuity and a willingness to try new things.
Overall, the event has clearly demonstrated that the current recession is not a mortal threat to the industry, although it will test its resistance and flexibility. It has also proved that the amount of light at the end of this tunnel will depend on the energy which is employed at this end.
