Next step for Sony Walkman

Sony is set to take on Apple's Video iPod with the launch of its new Walkman Video MP3 player.

Measuring less than 10mm thick, the device allows users to view MPEG-4 video footage on the 2in LCD screen. Video content can be downloaded using a simple drag and drop mechanism. Music and videos can also be uploaded from an existing collection, or downloaded from online music stores.

The player boasts a battery life of up to 30 hours for music and eight hours of video playback and users can also use the device to store and view JPEG photos.
