With unrivalled heating technology, stylish Italian design, new innovations and up to 10 years guarantee, it's no surprise that De'Longhi is the world leader in portable heating. With a UK market share in portable heating of 23.5%, De'Longhi continue to be at the cutting edge of both technology and design, leading the field and fulfilling the heating needs of a wide consumer base.
The heritage of De'Longhi has set a legacy with the entire portable heating range, especially oil filled radiators. Over a hundred years ago in Treviso, Italy, De'Longhi started making components for oil-filled radiators. Within a short time, the company rapidly grew and soon De'Longhi established themselves as the market leader with their own brand of electric oil-filled radiators. De'Longhi maintain this dominance today with a huge UK Oil-filled Radiator market share of 34.9% , reaffirming that De'Longhi is the portable heating choice of the UK. What are the benefits of portable heating?
At a time when we're all feeling the bite of the Credit Crunch, we are increasingly looking for money-saving solutions throughout our homes and lifestyle.
One of the key things concerning most people this winter is the rising energy costs of heating our homes.
So, instead of switching the central heating on to heat your entire house, De'Longhi is recommending: "Heat the room, not the house"
How can a portable heater save money?
It makes sense to only heat the room you are primarily using, rather than turning on the entire central heating system.
Portable electric is ‘real energy' and 100% efficient at point of use, it has no wasted energy as all the heating produced is used. So the electricity that you pay for is immediately converted into heat. Portable heating offers a low cost installation alternative to rooms that are not centrally heated or under-heated due to room conversions e.g. conservatories / converted garage spaces and houses that have rooms with out central heating.
The unpredictability of the weather also means that this type of heating can be used as and when required with little or no maintenance.
What are the other energy efficiency factors of a De'Longhi portable heater?
De'Longhi products come with thermostats and can be controlled for very efficient output, so not too many overheat / cool cycles.
De'Longhi products offer heat setting flexibility with Low, Medium and High heat settings available on most of our products to give further economical and environmental benefits.
The top models in the De'Longhi range have the added benefit of Electronic Climate Control ‘ECC' which is very accurate and easy to use with remote control operation.
Some De'Longhi products also come with timers so they can be turned on and off automatically as and when to maximise heating periods.
What are the installation and servicing advantages of portable heating?
Taking up very little space, portable heaters are easy to store and position around the home.
Installation is easy, simply plug into the nearest mains electricity supply. Some models are also suitable for wall mounting - this is easy to do with the provided brackets.
De'Longhi also offers a stylish range of electrical focal point fires that not only have the ability to heat the room with a more permanent look, they are also equally as easy to install as the portable models.
No large or expensive boiler services.
The cost of Electricity is not rising as fast as mains Gas in most regions and therefore is the more affordable option.
What are the safety benefits of portable heating?
Our long guarantee shows confidence in the product design and safety to the consumer - as high as 10 years on certain models.
De'Longhi portable heaters are independently approved to International Standards. They are tested thoroughly and regularly checked to provide constant reassurance of safety.
We offer ‘extra' specialist safety systems fitted on some convectors (eg the Sicura alarm which sounds if it is accidently tipped over) and some of our fan heaters; these are anti tilt devices that shut down the heater if it is accidentally knocked over, adding extra security.
Our portable electric heating has no need for extra room ventilation (e.g. chimney breast) and can not suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning.
What are the different types of heat
Radiant Heat
This is similar to the type of heat that we get from the sun. It is a heat that warms YOU up as opposed to simply heating the surrounding air.
Convection Heat
Convection describes the process of circulating warmth around a room by heating the air. Convection works at a faster level when it has a fan to push the warm air in certain directions.
As a retailer, how do I know which type of heating solution is right for each customer?
We advise that retailers speak to each customer in detail to find out what their heating needs are - e.g. a fan heater for spot heating if they need a top-up of heat, or mimicking the central heating system with an oil-filled radiator if they are unable to install mains central heating due to an extension or garage conversion etc. An oil-filled radiator can also be used in place of central heating if the consumer wishes to just heat one room that they regularly use, instead of turning on the entire central heating to avoid wasting energy.
There is an efficient heating solution available for every consumer. A consumer needing fast spot heating would benefit from the convected heat of a fan or ceramic heater, and a consumer needing a longer-term, more durable heating solution would benefit from the radiant lasting heat of an oil-filled radiator.
In addition, throughout each of the different categories within the De'Longhi range, there is a style and design-led product for those style-conscious buyers. Heating needn't be all about the typical ‘white' products - there is a surprising range of heaters from De'Longhi that are striking in design as well as being efficient and functional. Now, a portable heater can take pride of place in the home and become a real focal point in its own right.
What are the products in the De'Longhi portable heating range?
Oil-filled radiators
- Oil-filled radiators provide a safe heating source
- They run silently and provide a very comfortable heat, neither drying nor adding moisture to the air.
- They offer the perfect mixture of radiant and convected heat, ideal for longer-term use in homes, conservatories, and small businesses.
- All De'Longhi oil-filled radiators use diathermic oil to ensure that the heat output is both durable and energy efficient.
- Convectors provide rapid warmth and convect heat around the whole room
- They run silently
- They are extremely light, making them easy to transport between different rooms
- Most convectors are also suitable for wall mounting
- Fan heaters heat up the surrounding air very quickly, ideal for short bursts of spot heating
- They are light and easy to transport between different rooms
- De'Longhi fans have a cool air function for all year round versatility
- Some De'Longhi models include oscillating bases, which are great for distributing the hot (or cold) air more effectively over a wider area.
- Ceramic heaters hold many of the same benefits and features as regular fan heaters - (light, portable, some models with oscillating bases etc)
- However, Ceramic heaters have a unique feature. Inside, the heating element is made up of ceramic and aluminium strips which generate heat more quickly, and retain that heat more effectively than a conventional fan heater.
- This unique heating element also helps to reduce the ‘burning dust' smell that is associated with regular fan heaters
- De'Longhi Mica panels consist of a specially designed panel of mica material for silent operation with an oil-free radiant heat output.
- Mica is a naturally occuring substance that holds many of the same benefits as ceramic materials - fast, efficient, and retaining heat more effectively.
- De'Longhi mica panel heaters are extremely light and compact (only 6cm deep) and can be easily wall mounted or can be used freestanding with the included wheels
