Roberts has joined hands with retra to trial a free disposable battery recycling scheme in 21 UK towns and cities.
New EU legislation will require Britain to start recycling up to 25% of all disposable batteries from 26 September 2008, but Government delays in the implementation of the directive has persuaded Roberts and retra to trial their own service. From 1 September, 25 retra members in 21 locations nationwide will be displaying clear perspex recycling bins in their stores for the public to use for the disposal of used household batteries.
