This year's Berlin-based IFA consumer electronics show was the biggest yet, with 10% more exhibitors than last year, along with a record attendance of 220,000.
For the first time, the show has diversified to include a substantial home appliances section, which proved to be very popular.
Dr. Rainer Hecker, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the gfu, explained: "The successful IFA concept provides an excellent basis for the long term commercial success of the industry and the trade. In addition to the success of the presentations by the rapidly expanding consumer electronics sector, the displays by the new exhibitors representing electrical home appliances received an enthusiastic response from visitors and dealers, offering impressive proof of the strength of these brands. Their excellent displays augmented the portfolio of the leading trade show for consumer electronics."
Product highlights included the first TVs to include 200Hz processing, along with Europe's first OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) panel and the world's slimmest TV.
Next year's IFA will take place 4-9 September 2009.
