JVC enters hi-def player sector with first Blu-ray product
Blu-ray sound system to be part of Sophisti range

JVC has entered the Blu-ray market with the introduction of a 2.1 channel Blu-ray system. The NX-BD3 is part of the maker's collection of Sophisti sound systems and according to JVC, it's the world's first DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) enabled Blu-ray system, so it can be used for a wireless home network.

The system comprises a Blu-ray receiver, along with front surround speakers and a subwoofer. The Profile 1.1 Blu-ray deck sports a version 1.3 HDMI port, and its users will be able to use Blu-ray features such as picture-in-picture. However, the player is not upgradeable to Profile 2.0, so users won't be able to access interactive BD-Live features.

Users can play discs from JVC's HD Everio HDD camcorders, as well as AVCHD footage from an SD card.

Supporting the Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro-Logic II formats, the system also incorporates JVC's K2 technology which is designed to upscale compressed audio.

The NX-BD3 is available soon with an expected retail price of around £799.
