Green screen from Philips
Published:  02 May, 2008

Philips' new Eco TV has been designed to save power by lowering the backlight level, without compromising the picture quality, says the manufacturer.

The 42PFL5603D full HD panel features a built-in light sensor which measures the room's ambient lighting and adjusts the television's backlight accordingly.

According to Philips, the Eco TV uses just 0.15W of power in standby, and also uses lead-free components and flame-retardant materials. What's more, the packaging and user manuals are all made of recycled materials.

The Philips 42PFL5603D is one of several Philips Green Flagship products which all carry the Philips Green logo.
