CAI gains new members and new facilities
The Confederation of Aerial Industries is growing strong
Published:  07 December, 2007

The Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) has reported that a year after the inception of the 'CAI plus' scheme 231 companies joined.

The scheme was launched to create a higher membership category allowing CAI 10,000+ engineers to gain recognition as qualified digital installers in preparation for the digital switchover. This equates to 453 individual engineers, with more joining all the time.

In June 2007, CAI offered its engineers CAI plus ID cards. The cards are the evidence of not only their competence but also of their public liability insurance cover. CAI plus members have verified safe working practices and are subject to satisfactory criminal records checks.

Meanwhile CAI membership is growing fast, with the 1,000 membership mark expected to be reached by the end of the year.

The Confederation has also moved its premises to Watford where it is now able to offer a variety of training courses in modern training facilities. The CAI trains over 600 engineers each year. For systems engineers it has an intensive distance-learning course, certified by City & Guilds, that takes around seven months to complete.
