Pioneer's plasmas go back to black
Published:  01 June, 2007

Pioneer has paid particular attention to black level performance with its new range of plasma TVs, and has also unveiled its first Blu-ray player.

The new TVs, developed under the name 'Project Kuro' (which means 'black' in Japanese), can create black levels that are 80% deeper than previously possible, says Pioneer, resulting in a contrast ratio of 20,000:1.

The screens are available now as 42 and 50in models in XGA versions, and Full HD 50 and 60in models will be out to buy from September.

Pioneer's BDP-LX70 Blu-ray player offers full HD images, as well as 'lossless' audio, with no distortion, interference or noise. The player will also play standard definition DVDs and audio CDs.
