Ian Humphreys, managing director of BI Electrical Services (NI), has succeeded Jim Speirs,  executive chairman, NICEIC Group Ltd (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting), as president of the industry's charity, Electrical & Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA). Ian has been EEIBA Vice President since 2007.

BDC has appointed Andy Nicolaou as senior buyer tasked with controlling the purchasing of appliances and contracting products. Andy originally joined the former Bridisco group in 2003 as an assistant stock controller before becoming buyer for appliances and floorcare and then senior buyer managing key white good suppliers.

A new beginning

Premium Appliance Brands Ltd (PABL), which was established in 2002 as a ‘virtual manufacturer' sourcing products from around the world, was placed into administration as the company was hit heavily by the rapid decline in the value of the pound versus the dollar and the euro. However, its management team, led by Guy Weaver (pictured) and Peter Brazier, have secured funding to purchase the company's assets, and has established a new company - Appliance 365 Ltd - which will trade from the same premises with the PABL staff transferring across to the new company.
